Vendela Vida "Bikinis &Tiaras: Quinceaneras"
Vida Vendela wrote a story called "Bikinis & Tiaras" which is about Quinceaneras. This story was found in the book Girls on the Verge: Debutante Dips, Drive-Bys, and Other Initiations. The story talks about how people are not respecting tradition and now are just having traditional parties in order to have a big party where they can dress up and impress their friends. Many traditions are changing in the Hispanic Culture. This story really made me think about the traditional celebration I had that I turned into a party. I took my religion for granted and I did not fully understand what I was about to do. The only thing that i was worried about was trying to dress nice and impress my friends with cool prizes and a fun night. This article made me want to think about my experiences and I enjoyed reading it.
